This course unit specifies the outcomes required to evaluate contract specifications and information and to prepare tender documents associated with projects in the building construction industry.

Knowledge of tender preparation and interpretation of project demands and requirements and the capability to bring together a body of diverse information are studied.

This unit of competency supports the needs of both individuals and those in the building construction industry who have a responsibility to evaluate and prepare tenders for residential and commercial projects.

Program Summary

This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to manage tender developments for major projects. It covers the facilitation, implementation and management of the tender development system in a building and construction organisation involved in residential and/or commercial projects.

It supports the production of tenders that are based on sound economic, business, and human and physical resource data in accordance with the necessary organisational guidelines.

Program Aims

This unit of competency supports the needs of building professionals, Registered Building Practitioners, senior managers within building and construction firms and other construction industry personnel responsible to evaluate and prepare tenders for residential and commercial projects.

Outcomes

The Tender Development & Management Program with CAS-BCM is well suited to those in the building construction industry and new to the industry who want to develop knowledge, skills and competencies to enable them to undertake job & project roles in administering the tendering responsibilities & obligations for building construction projects.

Prerequisites/Entry Requirements

It is recommended that Potential Learners:

  • Have Basic Numeracy Skills
  • Have access to a computer hardware with internet access
  • Be able to operate computer programs as email, word processor and spread sheet applications at a basic level

Assessment Process

All assessments will be conducted through the on-line learner portal through CAS-BCM’s Learner Management System.

Assessment is provided on-line through learner portal (LMS)

How and when assessments will be conducted

  • Individual Unit Element Activities will form part of the Face-to-Face Sessions and collected electronically on-line through learner portal
  • Project Assignment will be collected after every Independent Study periods; collected electronically on-line through learner portal
  • Work-Based Project Assignments will be due on after the completion of Unit of Competency
  • Skills Session outcomes will be due on after the completion of Unit of Study

Assessment processes and techniques are, as far as is practical, take into account the language, literacy and numeracy capacity of the learner in relation to the competency being assessed.

Recognition of Prior Learning – RPL

Participants can opt to undertake the program through an RPL Program (Recognition of Prior Learning), it is a form of assessment that recognises skills and knowledge gained through formal training conducted by industry or education, work experience or life experience.

Award Outcome

Learners wishing to undertake the Assessments or RPL will awarded a
